Happy Sunday

Peg at Happy in Quilting has inspired me to have a look at some of my orphan projects. I do have a little collection of complete but unfinished (????) stitcheries. They come in handy for short notice gifts, but mostly it's just an addiction I can't beat. I really like unrolling them and just looking.

This one really should be used for something. It's called Spring Home Pillow by Kathy Schmitz. I just can't choose a coordinating fabric.

There hasn't been a lot of stitching here this weekend. My eldest son has turned 15 - we had ten 15 year old boys for the night on Friday - and it was great. They were all very well behaved. It was a great summers night.

Today is a different story - raining - my favourite weather. Stitching, cooking and hanging out with the family today. Perfect.

Hope you're having a lovely day too.

Golfers Elbow??

Are you kidding me? Hand quilters elbow - yes. Stitching elbow - yes. Eating food and wine elbow - yes. But Golfers elbow?

Well, that's what the doctor calls it, and I really hope that one little cortisone injection solves the problem. I don't care if I can't cook or clean - but it will not be a happy home if I can't stitch. Hopefully all will be resolved in a couple of weeks.

Gail Pan Designs

My blog prize from Gail Pan arrived in the mail yesterday, a lovely little Monday treat. They look like great projects to do during the year so I can be more PREPARED for Christmas.

I think the Merry Reindeer table runner is my favourite. Thanks Gail.

Budding Artist

How clever is my boy??? While we were out for dinner last night Mr Almost 15 whipped up this little creation titled "shrooms". A quick visit to Big W today and it's now framed ready to hang.

Apologies for my photography - it really doesn't show the detail and depth of each little mushroom.

I went to The Home Patch on Thursday. Anni has restocked after Christmas and there was lots to see and inspire. I bought some woven wool for another pear and this pretty fat quarter. I'm making my niece a sewing kit, and thought I'd use the sewing case out of SKOW. But instead of little squares, use this as the feature fabric. I haven't quite made up my mind yet.

have had been doing quite a good job resisting Lynette Anderson's In Full Bloom BOM. But when I saw the sample Anni has done all resolve went out the window (with my Nundle budget). The stitcheries are divine, so I'm looking forward to starting next month.

I will have to spend some time with the whippersnipper and mower today, but hopefully with needle and thread too. Hope you have a great day.

Happy Valentine's Day

I am here with my boys, and hubby's away for work. Not very exciting or romantic ....................BUT .................  I just found out I won Gail Pan's Christmas stitchery giveaway. Wow, I'm excited - I've checked 3 times just to make sure it's really me. I've seen so many of Gail's beautiful designs in magazines, so it will be lovely to have one of my own - thankyou Gail. I feel like I'm already getting organised for Christmas!!!!

I think it will be a romantic night stitching in front of Packed to the Rafters for me.

A little pear.....

I came across this pile of "scraps" - not actually scraps, but all the little pieces cut out and ready to make Anni's Pear Tree Pincushion.

Some laying out.....

....a little bit of whipstitch..... and my first finish for 2012.

It's quite a big, fat juicy pear - might modify it a bit next time - but very happy with the result.

Off to do a little more stitching before the weekend is gone. Hope you're having fun with whatever you're working on.

In My Garden progress

What do you do when one project is taking a long time to finish? Start a new one of course.

Well, In My Garden isn't new, but it does need to be quilted. Usually I only have one hand quilting project on the go at a time, but the top was finished, I had the batting, I bought the backing.......so on the weekend I basted it ready to quilt. I don't think it will actually need a lot of quilting, as it's all about the applique on this one. I really need a break from the stars.

I keep my safety pins in this little old teapot.

Myf likes the stars quilt too. Cheeky girl.

Stars Quilt

If this summer had been hot I wouldn't have 40% of this quilt  hand quilted. With every stitch I love this quilt more.

My Nundle name tag is well underway, just needs a last little bit of stitching and glue.
A quiet weekend here, to recover from a busy first week back at school - hopefully lots of stitching for me.

Goodbye Wall Hanging

Hip hip hooray! I have finished the wall hanging that my dear mother-in-law asked me to make for her church. It may not be my cup of tea but I'm rather pleased with how it turned out.

I hope she likes it, but not so much that she asks for another one!!
Hope you get a chance to do a little mid-week stitching.

Chelsea Charm Update

I'm over halfway with the applique for Chelsea Charm. The French General range is just so beautiful to work with - every fabric is lovely (even if my photography doesn't show it today!).

Also working away on MIL wall hanging - hopefully it will be finished tonight (thank goodness).
