On a serious note

As many of you know, it's been really hot and dry in parts of Australia. The drought conditions are pushing farmers to their limits, financially and emotionally. I am not a farmer but I do live out of town and rely on rainfall to supply our water. I can only imagine the stress of such dry conditions on farmers who love their land and their livestock, people who are just trying to make a living.

Support our farmers.......pop over to Chookyblue to see what it's really like.

  2. Such an unbalanced planet we live on - some of our western and coastal states like California are in the same predicament. And it won't be long before winter breaks it hold on other areas with heavy snow cover and the threat of flooding begins...we think we are so wise...but Mother Nature has her own agenda.

  4. So true Susan. As you know we are rural too, but taking the drive a little further west to Cassilis yesterday, we couldn't believe the difference in the paddocks. Brown, dry, dusty. Dams almost empty and more really hot weather forecast for the near future. So stressful for our farming families.

  6. Here in England and Somerset where I live we are submerged in more water than anyone knows what to do with. What hardships these severe weather conditions bring.

  7. Shocking, isn't it. It's awful to contemplate the stress farming families are going through and the difficult decisions they face.

  8. So hard for all the farmers and graziers now...I can only begin to imagine what it's like. Hard enough to just rely on water tanks like we did and to buy feed but now the feed is like the price of gold! I'm sure our beef prices are going to sky rocket!

  9. My heart always breaks for farmers. We live in a rural community and grew up with farming relatives - they always work so hard and are totally at the mercy of Mother Nature. I'll pray for rain.
