Aargh!!

Can you see where I started the new skein of thread? I rinsed this stitchery last night, to find it like this today. Not happy. Weeks Dye Works 1331 Brick, in the BIN. I think I will just stay with DMC thread in future.

On a brighter note, we had this delicious Tiramisu for dessert last night courtesy of Mr 11. It's from the Junior Masterchef cookbook, and is probably his all time favourite recipe. It has no coffee or liquer, and uses orange to make it a rather tasty alternative that everyone can enjoy.

I feel like eating some more now, to make up for my thread malfunction.

Rain, glorious rain again today. Not so good for the Mudgee Small Farm Field Days, but excellent for lazy Mums enjoying the last of the school holidays. Have a great day.

  3. Oh no Susan...I'd stick with DMC too!!! Now I'm feeling a bit devastated...I have a cross stitch coming with Weekes Threads in it...and I am thinking of ordering Weekes for another cross stitch...I think you have convinced me now not to! Do you normally rinse your work? I think I would be having a double...no make it triple tiramisu! Enjoy the beautiful rain!

  4. Hi Susan...what a catastrophe! WDW are great threads but generally not colourfast, especially in the reds. Did it have non-colourfast on the label? I use thenm all the time for cross stitch, but never an item that needs laundering. Not good!

  6. OH NO. I would be diving head first into to the tiramisu after that. I only use DMC and now I see why. I have to agree with you about the weather. It is a wonderfull excuse to sit in front of the fire on the last days of the school holidays. Have a lovely day. Hugs

  7. Oh Susan - what a bummer! I must take Cardy's comment on board and check labels in future. Although I knew red in the past could be tricky, I just assumed everything was rated coloured fast these days. No chance of salvage using 'Colour Catchers'?
Dessert looks like yummy compensation though. Masterchef has done a lot towards awakening food interests in children and adults alike.

  8. Might be worth saving with 'no run'. I made a swap stitchery that did the same thing as it was overdyed thread. I managed to salvage the piece and with the remaining thread I put it in a cup poured hot water from the kettle over it and take it out after about 10 min, dry it and it won't run again. Used to do this all the time when I smocked especially with dark reds, navy and black thread. (even dmc)

  11. OH NOW!!! I would have eaten the whole tiramisu to make me feel better LOL
I like the idea of that tiramisu....hubby doesn't like them if they have too much coffee in them.

  12. Hi - sorry to leave an annonymous - I don't usually leave comments as I am new to reading blogs & not sure how it works. The same happened to me on a white cloth with some verigated threads - I covered the whole area (including the stitching) in natural yoghurt & left it for a few hours then washed in in machine with a colour catcher - the threads that ran were red - there is a faint hue around some stitching but all of the colour came out of the background - hope this helps

  13. What a shame... I have had the same thing (but a much smaller stitchery) with Cottage Garden...

  14. Blast! Don't you hate that. I was also going to suggest trying Colour Catchers - worth a shot. I must say that I've only used DMC, but that is because I have so many of them. Dessert is great consolation. Have another piece. We think we will still go to the Field Days tomorrow - just wear strong boots for the mud.
