Deck the Halls Done
I finished Deck the Halls last night.....quite happy with it. Went with red quilting around the border but think I should have used more of a contrast. The main thing is that its not sitting unfinished in my basket!
After seeing so many finished Noelle table toppers I couldn't resist doing one myself. I am using a variegated Valdani thread ..... love the effect.
And on an exciting note, I have finished my SSCS!!! I've put it down to first-timers enthusiasm.
Hope you find time to stitch over the weekend.

Deck the Halls
Loved doing this redwork stitchery from The Birdhouse....now just have to turn it into a wall hanging.
I am just about done with my Secret Santa. As it's my first swap I'm a little anxious about my choices......but I hope she will like it.

Beautiful Day
Not much sewing happening here today but it was a beautiful day in the garden.
Below is a photo of my first ever quilt, all hand pieced and hand quilted. Back in 1994 I joined a class at a community college....thought I should make the queen size I wanted as I was only going to make one!!!!! Well, it started a lifelong addiction. I wouldn't choose these colours now, but this quilt is still on our bed every winter, and it holds some very fond memories.
There was an Open Garden in my neighbourhood today so I dropped in to get some inspiration for weeding my own!! It worked, and now I am worn out but my garden looks great. Some pics from the open garden at Balabudgee.
Hope you are enjoying the weekend.

In My Garden
My husband got back from his week at Phillip Island last night. I missed him........ but gee I got a lot of sewing done!! My secret santa is well under way and I have even finished block 8 of in my garden.
I just love the carrots and bunny. Sadly, the final month has also come, including borders and binding.
Hope you're having a great week.

Inspiration
I love making picture frames, birdhouses and other things out of old bits of wood, but I am not very good at it, and they usually fall apart. Wood is so unforgiving, not like nice soft fabric.
Anyway, after the garden sculptures yesterday I was inspired to have yet another go at some woodwork. Out came the saw, the file and an old paling (which I have a stash of - love the colours)....and this is what I made....

...a little birdie for my pot..... and another bird and some hearts which I plan to hang in a tree when I can find some wire or string.
Hope your weekend is great.

Garden Sculpture
We have had a gorgeous (but wet) morning out at a local property looking at some wonderful garden sculptures. It was all to raise money for the Guide Dogs. There were some amazing and inspiring works.
These pears made from horse shoes by Al Phemister were amazing.
My boys hamming it up for a photo to send to Dad. Hammer by Tig Crowley.
Have a lovely weekend.

This one was really popular - maybe we all know how he feels.
That Was a Good Drop, by Ludwig Mlcek.
No buying of sculptures, but I did get these roses and delphiniums at the garden stall - beautiful and for a good cause.
Have a lovely weekend.

Hmmmm.....
Hmmm... lots going on here... but all secretive.
I love these two small table toppers from Anni Downs. I made them for last Christmas, they are just too pretty to put anything on. Think I will make them a big brother with the Noelle table topper.

I bought the pattern for these owls at Darling Harbour a couple of years ago. I made so many in different sizes that nearly everyone I know has one now. Making them was a bit addictive for a while. The pattern is from be be bold. The baby is only 1 1/2 inches high.

Computer dramas
Hmmm----- having some computer dramas here and the expert (read husband) is off to Phillip Island to the GP for a week. Thank goodness for his work laptop which he has kindly set up for me to use - it would be a long week without any internet.
I have been working on my BOm and christmas stitchery, and secret santa things.

Ta-Da!!!
Here is my finished sewing case.
I love it ....... now that it's done. This sweet looking little project actually caused quite a lot of grumbling and cursing under my breath when I was trying to get the lining in, but I'm happy I persevered. Thankyou Anni for yet another beautiful original design.
Back to In My Garden and Secret Santa now.

Why Thimble Stitch?
I have been visiting Dawn at Sweet as Cinnamon - she is asking how we came up with our blog names - and there's a giveaway. So, that incentive aside, it's really interesting reading and you can discover a whole lot of new blogs.
I had been lurking around in blogland for a while when my friend and I decided that surely it can't be that difficult to do - so we had a go. It's great to meet other stitchers and see other projects - I'm having a lot of fun with it.
I chose Thimble Stitch mainly because I love my thimble - I love hand stitching and hand quilting, and without my trusty thimble, not a lot would get done.

Back to the Sewing Case
Yay!! The stone floss arrived from the Home Patch today, so I can finish the stitcheries on the Some Kind of Wonderful sewing case.
We have had two little chicks hatch this week. They are VERY hard to take photos of. This little girl has two mother hens taking care of her and they weren't very impressed with the camera at all.
It is a glorious Spring day here. Everything is turning green so quickly after the rain last week.

Home again
Home from a few days in Newcastle. The boys are all kitted out for summer, but too hard to shop for myself with three boys in tow. I did pick up this cute little picture for my sewing room (hmmm, it's actually just a corner of a room).
A week off work this week so hopefully lots of stitching time.
