GDITC

The wait seemed to go on forever, but we finally got to GDITC on Friday.

Sue Daley's trunk show on Friday night was full of gorgeous quilts, and the interesting story of her patchwork journey. Am I going to be able to do this???

One of the highlights was meeting Dawnie. Dawnie, Ann-Marie and I all did the In My Garden BOM, and ALL finished it. Don't they look great together?

And this is how far I got on my project - still quite a bit of work to go.

I have finished sewing the binding down on In My Garden. I am very happy with the whole quilt.

I'm not sure if my favourite block is the fountain or the house.

It is having an outing to Nundle for GDITC this weekend.

In My Garden progress

I am making good progress on hand quilting In My Garden.

 I'm not sure about the binding that came with it. I think it's a bit too dark.

I'm visiting my parents in Bathurst tomorrow, so I might have time to pop into The Homepatch - BUT JUST FOR BINDING. I have saved my GDITC spending money, and I don't want to blow it before I get to Nundle. Wish me luck, because it's the days when you don't want to spend that you see LOTS of things you like.

GDITC is nearly here. I managed to finish my pincushion - it's wrapped ready to go. And I'm following a few of Peg's planning tips. I'm getting excited.

I'm also lucky enough to be taking the family on a New Zealand motorhome holiday soon. We are just starting to plan our way around the South Island, making sure to visit all the patchwork shops!

It's not always fabric and thread.....

I spent some quality time with paper, pen and calculator last night working out a scallop pattern to quilt on the border of In My Garden.



It took a while to get the shape I wanted to fit the length of the border - but I got there in the end (simple really).

I hope to have it finished for GDITC if my fingers hold up.

In My Garden progress

What do you do when one project is taking a long time to finish? Start a new one of course.

Well, In My Garden isn't new, but it does need to be quilted. Usually I only have one hand quilting project on the go at a time, but the top was finished, I had the batting, I bought the backing.......so on the weekend I basted it ready to quilt. I don't think it will actually need a lot of quilting, as it's all about the applique on this one. I really need a break from the stars.

I keep my safety pins in this little old teapot.

Myf likes the stars quilt too. Cheeky girl.

Rainy Day

Today has been rainy and overcast so I couldn't do the painting or gardening I had planned. So instead, I had a lovely afternoon putting the borders on my In My Garden BOM, and now the top is finished and I am feeling very pleased with myself.

It will have to get in the queue for hand quilting..... probably after summer now.

I've been following the Henry Glass blog hop....lots of free projects and a prize draw at the end. I've been going via Anni's blog.

In My Garden progress

Last night I laid out the blocks for In My Garden, well eight of them anyway!

Block 9 is almost done, so the end is in sight (for the top anyway). I have loved doing the needle turn applique, and gettting a yummy package in the mail every month.

Oh, the Cold Chisel concert was awesome. We had such a good night......but lets just say things were a little bit slow on Sunday.

In My Garden

My husband got back from his week at Phillip Island last night. I missed him........ but gee I got a lot of sewing done!! My secret santa is well under way and I have even finished block 8 of in my garden.

I just love the carrots and bunny. Sadly, the final month has also come, including borders and binding.

Love Fridays....

What a beautiful spring day to spend stitching in the sunshine (even with the saws and hammers in the background).

I've made a start on the next month of In My Garden. Snails are pesky in the garden AND in applique.

I don't care much for the leeks either, but the block itself looks really good - just wanted to get the least interesting bits done first.

And while I wait for my floss, I thought I should make a start on this wall hanging I bought at Darling Harbour in June. It's called Deck the Halls by The Birdhouse. Gotta love stitching in one colour - extremely portable.

Girls Day in the Country

Today I have booked a place at GDITC at Cottage on the Hill for 2012. Sue Daley is the tutor for next year - lots of handpiecing and needleturn applique. Yay! Received month 7 from Hatched and Patched. It's a lot of fun.

And my bulbs are finally starting to flower!
