I didn't do much sewing over the weekend, but I did choose the fabrics for the centre of Irish Circles. Surprisingly, I have used the two dark rust fabrics that I bought especially for the centre and main ring. I tried quite a few combinations but kept coming back to these. The ring will have motifs appliquéd onto it so it will blend in more. There is one small circle in the very centre which hasn't been done yet......
I'm enjoying this project but pressing all those seams on those tiny pieces is very frustrating. Any tips?

Unrelated to sewing, but I just had to share this photo of my Mr 16 crossing the finish line at the Mudgee Running festival in the 10km race. He was third overall, and second for his age group in 42 minutes. No, I didn't run......I enjoyed myself on the sidelines!
Hope you have a great week.

It will be a joy to watch your progress on the beautiful Irish Circle blocks. I like that you repeated the outer circle using the same color theme... just gorgeous! My tip for ironing... patience!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the runner!
You have such a special touch putting colors together - this is so lovely - soft yet with just the right amount of contrast. Wondering if the small ironing tips on the little Clover irons would be helpful! They can get into all kinds of tiny seams unlike a larger iron.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work!!
The fabrics you have chosen look great Susan. Congratulations to Mr 16 on a great run.
ReplyDeletegorgeous! I couldn't even imagine piecing those little pieces and they are all so perfect as are the colours.

Your fabric choice is spot on I love the rust. Congrats to Mr16, a great achievement. Id use a hera marker for the smaller seams then it will be easier to iron. Hope this helps!

ReplyDeleteWOW! Your centre square is stunning! You have an amazing eye for colour. I'm a recent convert to finger pressing small pieces. It was hard to put down the iron but I tried it and was very pleased with the results.
