Lea's 1930's Leaves

I was very happy to finish the quilting on this mini last weekend, and the binding was quick to do today. It's so different to my usual colour palette, but I love it. It measures 15" X 13". Thank you to Lea for the scraps, and Judy Day for the inspiration.

.

Making mini quilts feels a bit indulgent. As beautiful as they are, they aren't very useful, but I do subscribe to the William Morris quote "Have nothing in your home that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." I sew for the sheer pleasure in every stitch.

I'm having some quiet stitching time today, reflecting on world events and hoping for peace in France.

  8. Love that line ' I sew for the sheer pleasure in every stitch'. Totally as it should be.:) LOVE your sweet little quilt! Sometimes I think I'm gonna take a year off from making big quilts and just make mini's, but somehow I never do!

  9. It's beautiful Susan. I'm beginning to realise the place for minis for much of the joy of creating is in the meditative process which adds to our lives on a daily basis - and sometimes a small project satisfies these needs even more. Did you miss a quilting arc/leaf between the bottom yellow flower and green flower? It's hard to see this quilting section in the photo.

  24. You did a really beautiful job on this Susan and I think that you are wise to align yourself with Mr. Morris - he knew a thing or two. Hope you enjoyed your quiet stitching time and our thoughts to are with those suffering the aftermath of the events in Paris. Why is peace to seemingly difficult to achieve?
