Hello

The rainy days seem to have passed and we are enjoying glorious Spring weather. The blossoms on my crabapple always delight, and even match my current socks!

I've been cross stitching and quilting as well when I can. A little work on each and I might finish one of these mammoth projects eventually. I've passed the bottom left corner of Scarlett Ribands with these little squirrels, so the end is in sight.

I must thank  Kyle for the lovely gift I won for her blog anniversary. Always exciting to get an international surprise in the mail.

My mum has recently moved into aged care so we are preparing the family home for sale. A long and tricky process with four children who all live away, but we're getting there. Lots of knitting and sewing therapy happening!

I've joined Chookyblue's Secret Santa Christmas Swap. I think I decided what to make yesterday. It's small, but lots of tiny pieces so I think it will qualify. My partner makes lots of things for others so it was hard to see what her own preferences might be.

These are the finished socks form my last post. It will be too warm to wear them soon.....but there's always next year!

Happy stitching,
Susan x

  1. Gorgeous colour, socks and crabapple. Glad you're making time to sew with work and everything else happening. It is tricky to juggle all of that.

  2. Very sweet squirrels and fun coloured socks. I thought we had made it to spring here but the cooler weather has returned, its not cold so much as just not warm! Anyway still good sewing and gardening weather. Good luck with preparing the house, such a massive job when you all live in different places. I hope your Mum adjusts to living in Aged Care well, it is a big change from living in your own home.

  5. Toasty toes socks - wonderful colors - even though they must be put away until colder weather. We are enjoying a long lingering fall here - the mildest I can recall in ages. Perhaps our winter will seem shorter when it does arrive. Will be thinking of you as the transition is made for your Mum. I know all too well what that is like. You are blessed to have siblings who can assist in dealing with the house.

  8. Love both your new socks. Weren't you the lucky one to with a prize. I know exactly what you are going through with your Mum, as my Mum has just moved into a retirement village and we are trying to get her house ready to sell. So much stuff, so hard to go through it. At least I'm only a few minutes away. It must me much harder with you all away. Good luck with it.

  20. Lots going on at your place Susan... great socks... best of luck with the house; it's challenging but I hope that your family can come together to work towards a happy outcome... it's tricky making for someone when it's hard to gauge their preferences, but I'm sure that whatever you make & send for sscs will be appreciated!
