Completely devoted......

..........to needle turn and my Floral Beauty quilt. Not only am I loving this project, but I'm thinking about what needle turn to work on next. These are my latest blocks.

And some more little hexies for my bag.

I am a firm believer that good service should always be recognised. If you need a little retail therapy pop over to Kylie at Red Raspberry Quilts........she even has an Australia Day sale on at the moment. Kylie was ever so helpful with some thread queries last week, and my purchase arrived super fast and ready for weekend stitching.

I missed FNSI last night, but hope to make it up over the long weekend.
Happy Australia Day.

More Floral Beauty

Three more blocks for my Floral Beauty. My needleturn is improving with each block. I think it will end up more colorful than I planned, but I'm happy with that. The blue block on the end isn't quite as bright as it looks in the photo

The cool weather arrived just in time, before I completely melted. We even had 7mm of rain last night. Smoke still in the air, but it is so good to be comfortable again.

Have a great week everyone.

They're contagious......

I haven't signed up for Chookyblue's SAL, but I have still caught the bug. All the thread catchers looked so I good, I thought I could use one next to my chair in the lounge room. Hmmmm.......maybe I need one beside the sewing machine..........and one at the ironing board too.

I don't think I'm done yet. They are very cute, quick and handy. It was good to use a couple of novelty fabrics too.

Thanks for everyone's comments about which thread they use. It made for some very interesting conversations.

The hot weather is back today, so I'm laying low with some stitching. Hope you're having a good day and staying cool (or warm depending on where you are).

A new hobby

I've been a bit slack in the sewing department, but I'm always busy cooking something. My DH gave me a pasta maker for Christmas. We have discovered that fresh pasta is scrumptious.
Here are the sheets drying out before I turn them into tagliolini.

Little tagliolini ready to cook with prawns, basil and chilli tonight. And yes, they are on the drying rack outside the back door.

On a sewing note, what sort of thread do you use for appliqué and EPP?

Taking it easy

Not a lot to report on the sewing front, but I have finished three more blocks for Floral Beauty.

That's my new 8 1/2" square ruler in the background. How I have I survived so long without one of these?

The forecast is for 40 degrees today, so I'm off to enjoy the air conditioning at work.

Have a happy, happy Friday.

Works in progress

I was inspired by May Britt'spost about what projects she is working on this year. I'm sure there will be new projects and fabrics to catch my eye, but these projects are what I'm working on for now.

Finish quilting In Full Bloom before GDITC in March.

Make a start on The Simple Life fabric pack I got for Christmas.

Finish sewing down hexie border and quilt my Hexagon Star......by the end of the year.

Make a quilt for my nephew's 18th in August. Best get a move on with this one.

Floral Beauty. Loving it, and scared of all the needleturn, at the same time.

New Day stitchery.....finish by Mothers Day.

Make two runners for my new coffee table and buffet......soon.
Finish my little hexie bag before GDITC.
Stay up to date with the Traditional Nine Patch Swap.
I'm thinking about starting a clamshell quilt, but might wait until GDITC with Sue Daley.

I'll stop now, or this will become a very long list of all the projects I'd like to do.

I'm off to find a cool spot to stitch the day away.......now what should I work on first?

Snowy Mountains

On our way to Thredbo we stopped at Abercrombie Caves.

Here we are on top of Australia, 2228m above sea level.

And me on the bobsled.

It's my turn to have trouble with Blogger today, so I'll see how this post goes.

I'm back!

We have had a lovely cool few days in Thredbo this week. Most well known for snow skiing in the winter, it was still a great destination for a summer family holiday. We walked the 13km trail to the top of Mt. Kosciusko, the highest point of Australia, and enjoyed lots of rides on the chairlift and bobsled. There was even some snow at the top to play in.

Hubby hasn't downloaded the photos yet, but this is the view from our apartment. Not nearly as impressive as you'd expect our highest mountain to look, but still a beautiful environment.

Unfortunately the rest of the country seems to be VERY hot, including Mudgee, we came home to 39 degrees. I think it's going to be a long, hot week. Stay safe and cool in this terrible weather.
On our way home today we stopped at Canowindra, and just happened to park right outside the patchwork shop! It was a beautiful old shop, Debbie was lovely, and a couple of fq's fell into my bag.

The historic main street had some lovely old buildings, galleries and quirky shops. The Bendy Street Emporium was closing down..........as a key collector I could not leave this magnificent key behind. It's made from Mangowood. Now to find a place for it.

Tomorrow I'm going to sort out my projects and make a list of what needs to be done........if I'm not too wilted!
