Pockets to Go

Finished my sewing organiser last night. I love this pattern by Atkinson Designs. The finished size is 6 1/2" square, and 5 1/2" high.....a good size for my sewing table but portable too.

Thanks Dawnie for the the inspiration. Some parts were a bit tricky but the pattern is really well written and easy to follow.

Hope you have a great week.

Something different

I spent Anzac Day afternoon wrapping my mind around the many pieces that will become my sewing organiser. I'm using the Lynette Anderson fabric I bought at GDITC, and the pattern is by Atkinson Designs.

Halfway through construction.

I first saw this design when I met Dawnie at GDITC 2012. It has lots of pockets on the inside and zippered pockets on the outside. I am following the instructions to the absolute letter, no winging it with this one, and so far it's coming together.

Hoping to finish it this weekend. Happy stitching.

Anzac Day

We are lucky in Mudgee to have a strong culture in our schools of supporting Anzac Day. So even though it's school holidays, it was great to see my boys marching in school uniform at the parade today.

And Mr 11 helped carry the banner and lay the wreath.

It was a good opportunity for us all to stop and consider the sacrifices that were, and are being made, so we can enjoy peace and prosperity.

Retail therapy

My Hatched & Patched gift voucher isn't giving me anymore trouble! And now I have three months of nine patch combinations to make up! A couple of these fabrics were bought at Cottage on the Hill but needed a partner. One of the other girls actually chose the exact same fabric combination that I was planning for May.....so I thought I'd get in early this time.

I have set myself the challenge of not using red for the last two blocks of the swap. Could be interesting.

The blue pairing is so pretty.

I also restocked on some wool felt and threads.....and this lovely shirting (although the light isn't great).

Time to do some sewing I think.

........and more Floral Beauty

Still loving this project.

I am taking Mr 14 to the orthodontist in Bathurst today, so I am hoping to have time to visit The Home Patch. I have a gift voucher burning a hole in a my pocket so that will be my treat for the day.

Hope you find a moment to stitch today.

Ironfest

We have had a great day out at Ironfest in Lithgow today. Described as an "arts festival with a metal edge" it covers blacksmithing, jousting, history reenactments, medieval weapons and costumes, and steampunk......just about anything you can think of. This years theme was Time Travel, so of course Dr Who and the Daleks were there.

These two fearsome fellows belong to us.

There are camps set up from Viking and medieval times, and British colonial soldiers.

It's one of the best festivals I've ever been to, a real opportunity for people to express their individuality and passion for anything a bit left of centre.

On a stitching note, the little hexagons from Nundle have found a home.......but this is all I can show for now.

I am really enjoying school holidays at home. I hope you found some time to stitch over the weekend.

Just for fun

School holidays and no alarm clock tomorrow..........so I'm sitting up late working on something different just for a change. I got the fabric pack for The Simple Life last Christmas. I thought I'd start with this one, simple but true.

I'm using needleturn instead of buttonhole, and may regret it with some of the small pieces later. I figure if I just do one block every now and then it will all come together eventually. They are very cute designs.

A bit of stitching

It has been a glorious Autumn day here today, perfect for spending some time stitching in the sun. I bought this New Day stitchery pattern (Anni Downs) at the Sydney craft show last year.

The pattern has it as a framed project, I'm not sure what I will do with mine yet.

Hope you get some stitching time this week.

Bloggers are the best

I had a great night dining and stitching with Fiona from Dragonfly Crafts last night.

I took my son and his friends to the JJJ One Night Stand in Dubbo (1.5 hours away)...........it was their first big concert. So I was thinking I'd spend the night at the movies by myself, but instead, Fiona invited me to her house. We had a lovely dinner, lots of chatting and even sewed a few stitches. I also got to see her fabulous new sewing room. Thank you so much for a fun night Fiona.

We got home safely just on midnight.

Floral Beauty

Some more Floral Beauty blocks completed.

And some of the best kind of mail. I needed some Prairie Rose yardage to go with my layer cake for a secret project. I was very happy to find it for only $17/m at The Stitchers Cupboard......and the service was fast too.

Looking forward to the start of school holidays on Saturday.......I wonder how much sewing they'll let me do.

Hope you find a moment (or two) to stitch this week.

FNWF

I had a great night of sewing. Finished my April blocks for the nine patch swap. I was trying not to choose red and cream again........but i'm not so sure of the colour combination this month.

I also had my first chat room with my online group......now there's an experience!

And prepped another batch of Floral Beauty blocks.

I swore I wouldn't watch Maid in Manhattan AGAIN, but I did, and I enjoyed it.

Hope you have a great weekend.

FIS sent

For the Friends in Stitching swap I sent to Bec. I knew she needed a big bag for classes so I used the Red Home bag pattern but with appliqué instead of stitchery. It was challenging for a red girl to work with blue.

I'm taking Mr 11 into town to do some busking this morning, so I'll be back later with last nights sewing.

Natalie Bird Swap

Tonight was opening night for the Friends in Stitching Natalie Bird swap. I knew Teresa was making for me, and I was not disappointed. Teresa has made me a gorgeous big block keeper and a sweet little mug rug........a first for me on both counts. And in my favourite French General too. Thank you so much Teresa, I love them.

Back to my nine patches. Hope you're having a great Friday night.

Friday Night With Friends

I have signed up for FNWF tomorrow. I'm planning to make my nine patches for April, and a little more Floral Beauty.

There will also be some excitement when I open this package from Teresa as part of a Natalie Bird swap.

So pop over to Cheryll to sign up for a night of stitching with friends.
