A little giveaway

I went a little overboard with my hexie pincushions. So, if you would like to win one, just leave a comment, telling me how many pincushions you own and whether you prefer red or blue.

I think (hope) I will be able to part with one red and one blue. I'll announce the winners on Saturday.

  1. How many do I own.? Hmmm.... About four functional ones- two scissor robe, one on top of a thread jar and a meg sized one next to my sewing machine. Decorative ones- there are many, all of them have a story or memory and they live in a basket in my family room where I see them every day and they make me smile. Some were made by friends, some I have made and some remind me of happy days... One of yours would look lovely here!

  3. Gorgeous pincushions, you are really on a roll with them...I have 2 very plain but practical pincushions that have my glass headed pins in for sewing and I have one of those magnet ones that sits beside my sewing machine...Blue is a favourite colour of mine, though I am really coming to like red with all the lovely red fabrics coming out...

  4. I've just counted, Susan, and I have 10 - crikey! The one I use most is a Quilted Crow design I made from felted wool decorated with an appliqued pear. My most unusual ones are a Cath Kidston chair pincushion which is very cute and another looks like a slice of very fancy cake and is too pretty to stick pins into. Oh, and I like the red pin cushions best but they are all gorgeous. Thanks for your generosity - you make such lovely things.

  11. Oh, you have been busy - they are just gorgeous! I have 2 pincushions - one in my sewing room that has a hand made pottlery base (a gift from my sister Betty) and a wooden one that includes a spool holder that I'd be lost without. Adding one of these little gems to my collection would be absolutely wonderful. If you can part with one, red would be my choice.

  12. Those pincushions are darlings!! I have 3 pincushions. My first one my mom made for me when I was 8 - it's made out of polyester double knit and extremely ugly but I LOVE it - it goes everywhere with me in my handwork sewing bag. The other 2 were gifts from the same friend and are very functional. One of them has the word "ouch" appliqued on it :0) None of them are a fraction as cute as your pretty little hexagon ones though. I like both the red and the blue!

  13. I have five pincushions - a couple made of wool - the most useful one is my magnetic one by my sewing machine, but I love them all - they're fun to collect and make. I wouldn't be able to choose between red or blue - fond of both colors.....

  14. I have quite a few pincushions, lots from bloggy friend swaps as well as one I cross stitched a sewing machine onto which gets the hardest workout here. I would love to have your red one come join my other lovely pincushions in their special wooden bowl, thanks for the chance :) Barb.

  23. I have been fortunate to have received 2 very special pincushions from very dear friends - too special to use so I display them in my sewing room. I have also just completed one as as part of a friendly challenge, so that makes 3. I would love a red one as I am sometimes known as the red lady due to my obsession with French General reds.

  24. I have one pin cushion that I made in the shape of an apple with a leaf for the needles. I would love either color, whatever you are able to part with! Thank you so much! sarah@forrussia.org

  27. Hi Susan, what a lovely giveaway. I have three pincushions, but mainly use two - one I made and the other two I was given by a lovely friend, both of which she made. One is a little owl which mainly does decorative duty, and the other one I use almost every day. I prefer red, but am happy really to have either, they are all lovely!

  31. Your pin cushions are gorgeous, I am not surprised you couldn't stop at just two! they are quite addictive aren't they?
I have about twenty pin cushions, I just love them.
You won't have to enter me in the give away as you know I have some already and I am sure there will be more!

  32. Oh Susan - your pincushions are so gorgeous and you are so generous to give two away. I have only just realised recently when I moved that I have a bit of a pincushion collection happening - they all ended up sitting on my sewing table - 7 in total and I love them all - all different and special as most have been gifts from friends or swaps

  33. That's making me think. I have a felted woollen ball that I got at the first Mudgee Field days we went to. That is the main one I use. I have a wool appliqué one with my appliqué needles. I also have an antique silver pig one, as well as two gift ones from Loulee from the Isle of Man. I think that is all. I only seem to use the two. I just love the way yours turned out. You evidently got over the fiddliness of stuffing them.

  36. A darling collection of hexie pincushions! Love your cross stitching, something I could never accomplish. Estimating there are 50-60 pincushions in my collection. Many for show , a few basics for actual use. My name does not need to be included either - postage would be prohibitive. Just enjoy your blog so much !!

  37. Hummm... reading the other comments I'm beginning to feel like a pincushion pauper! I have 4 that sit on my table. Two of them I made... tortoise and elephant. Of course I can't stick pins in them coz it might hurt them. Two were gifts and I can't stick pins in them either because they are special. Where are my pins..... everywhere! Maybe you shouldn't consider me in the draw either because you now know if I won one I'd never stick a pin in it either... why? Because you made it! :o) There is no hope!

  38. Lovely hexie pincushions!! I couldn't even guess at the number of pincushions in my home... I have 12 or so vintage tomatoes, another dozen or more finger pincushions, probably another dozen that were gifted, and I've made so many more than that... So, yes, now that I've counted them all, I do have a collection :) But I always have room for more, and I'd love one of your little hexies if I it comes my way! Thanks!

  39. Just reading all these interesting Comments has been so enjoyable!
Susan I have 21 pincushions - in various states of use, age, condition & pin population. Some of those 21 I don't want to actually stick pins into, as they have faces featured on them... who wants to stick pins in faces?!
Thanks for the chance of winning one of your darling creations - my fave would be the red.

  43. Your pin cushions are so sweet, Susan. I would love to win a blue one. I have one pin cushion that my daughter gave me a few years ago, and have been promising myself to make a few more for me. However, I seem to get caught up in other quilty things, so as yet, no pin cushions.
