Finally making a start

An unexpected trip to Bathurst gave me the opportunity to buy the wadding for my SIL quilt. So now it's all basted together ready for some quilting.........I've got two months to finish it. Just starting with straight lines on the lighter sections, and if time permits I'll add some more.

A little bit of secret sewing which is nearing it's deadline too.

I found out this week that the local fabric shop that doesn't sell wadding has announced that it's closing at the end of June. 50% off everything........but unfortunately not a lot worth buying. I did stock up on DMC though.

Hope you find some happy sewing moments over the weekend.

Susan x

  5. Sometimes getting started is the HaRD part... now you have, you'll probably fly around it. Shame that LQS close...as they are always handy for last minute items...and lessens the drive for you! :(

  11. Your quilt is beautiful, Susan. I had to smile that you said you had 2 months to quilt it - I'd NEVER get it done in that amount of time, pokey thing that I am.

  13. Always sad to hear about any fabric shop closing its door. And at least here in the US, many shops don't stock good quality batting and as for a variety of good threads - nothing. Everything is going to mail order. Bets are on you will have your SIL's quilt done in time...

  16. Glad you finally got your wadding! I only had to drive five minutes down the road for some and got there only to find I was 30 min past the closing time, duh! The handing quilting looks impressive to me. Glad you got some thread bargains.

  21. Sorry to hear of a craft shop closing but from the sounds of it, it wasn't selling what people want to buy. There is one like that here. I think it is drifting off towards paper crafts now and wont order from Moda again after not being able to get more of a bolt which sold well. It only sold the adhesive wadding when I last went in which I could end up wrapping myself in before it got near a quilt top! Your quilt is looking so good.
