FNWF

I have been naughty with the FNWF rules. I signed up on Thursday then completely forgot to do a post about it, and didn't even sew on Friday night! I hope Cheryll will let me off on this occasion.

I have been sewing of course, just finding it hard to settle on one thing. I love my hand work, but sometimes when I'm busy, I get frustrated by a seeming lack of progress. It makes me start other small projects instead of getting on with my quilting. This week it's another pin cushion inspired by Anna at Noodlehead who is in the Crazy Mom Quilts pincushion party. I have been channelling my inner modern stitcher. I love the charcoal linen which came from The Home Patch. The blue mark in the centre is not washable pen, it's in the star fabric.......should have thought about that a bit harder.

Spent some time in the garden with hubby yesterday doing some long overdue pruning so that was good......except for the blister on my thimble finger. I have also been working on little 1/4" hexie flowers for a project that caught my eye at the Sydney craft show.

And feeling it's time to do something with these 1/2" hexies from last year.

Would someone please tell me to just get on with my hand quilting!

Happy Father's Day, I hope everyone has some happy family time today.

Susan x

  12. I took yesterday off from my hand quilting, a break is perfectly acceptable. But now, get back to work. You can't put the next quilt in the frame until this quit is finished! The pincushion is cute. How do you even baste 1/4" hexies?

  13. Your tiny 1/4" hexie flowers look so cute! It's good to pause and enjoy some no-sewing time too, to relax and not have to sew but rather, sew because you have a motivation idea/deadline.

  14. Wow, 1/4" hexies. I love those little hexie flowers. I love hexies, but I'm not sure that these old hands would be able to handle 1/4" hexies. I'm using 1" hexies in my Martha Washington's Flower Garden and would like to try a size slightly smaller, so I bought a pack of 3/4" shapes for a POTC.

  16. Sweet pincushion, just need to stick a pin in it with a big pin head to hide that blue spot! Yes seem to spend all weekend gardening and not sewing, but this year spring is having that effect on me!

  18. I can relate. When progress seems slow, it's hard to stay motivated. Especially when you look at all of the beautiful projects being finished on other people's blogs. You just want to finish something! But, as long as you enjoy whatever you're sewing at the time, it doesn't really matter.

  19. Oh dear me Susan! I can't judge because I may (or may not) have done something similar and had to improvise for a post! Shhhhhh! Love the pincushion and 1/4" hexies....that's dedication! I have seen the papers for these but just can't get my head around it.......so tiny!

  24. Far be it from me to tell someone to get on with your handquilting...you could retaliate, and rightfully so...to get on with my housework:-) we all love quilting in any of its aspects and whatever we are doing fits our mood at the time - so have fun with those pincushions as they are so cute!! Those 1/4" hexies are way too cute and 1/2" ers look like candy in a bowl.
