I don't think I've shown you this mini. I started it straight after the Syndey show, full of red and white inspiration from the exhibition, and after seeing a similar style by Sue Daley. Now I think the "different" red fabrics are all too much the same. Need to add some 1/4" hexie flowers and leave it be as red and white........unless anyone has a good suggestion!
,
The weather has been lovely for gardening this weekend, but our beautiful sunny day just turned into a rainy storm........perfect after all my weeding and planting. Time for some work on my SSCS gift.

Lovely pretty flimsy.
ReplyDeleteThey look lovely! Don't suppose a random white ring on a red background, would create an extra bit of interest?!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful orange peel mini! Maybe mix up the background fabrics a little with some lighter ones. It is going to be a little beauty too x
ReplyDeleteI suggest if you can't find a space for it I know where there is one!! Beautiful as always.
ReplyDeletelove them both Susan!
ReplyDeleteI think the fussy cutting separates the reds a bit, they look perfect, I think.
How do the hexies fit in?
Gorgeous Xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Susan yes I love them both too, well done,we have been waiting for rain but it hasn't come yet xx
ReplyDeleteThey are both rather lovely
ReplyDeleteSuper sweet minis. The orange peel is so fresh and crisp and the fussy cut hexies make wonderful red rings of designs.
ReplyDeleteYour minis are beautiful, Susan. I love the red rings.
ReplyDeleteI love both your mini's. I dont think that the reds being similar matters, you can tell you were fussy cutting them and that is what makes the impact/impresses...cos they are so small!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty red and white mini! I can relate to your similar different reds :0) That happens to me all the time. Your orange peel is lovely as well - i look forward to seeing how you quilt it.
ReplyDeleteLove your mini orange peel! So very sweet.:) I do the same things when choosing fabrics. They are different prints but much the same value. That's what I usually have to do, change up the value a bit.
ReplyDeleteYour projects are beautiful Susan, wow that red and white mini is stunning and so very tiny.
ReplyDeleteSweet little mini quilts :)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty mini orange peel quilt! Love the 1930's print!
ReplyDeleteThe 1930's fabric is fabulous isn't it! I have some but not used it yet! Your work i beautiful as always Susan!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet minis! I am sure you will come up with something special to make you happy with the reds - and I love the fussy cutting of the prints.
ReplyDeletethose are both lovely and so different... just gorgeous... you are so clever with your mini quilts.... I don't see anything wrong with the reds? I love it ....
ReplyDeleteHugz
Very cute mini, lovely colours, fresh n bright....Maybe add separate backgrounds to each pentagon flower, different shirtings to break all the red???? Mini hexis would be a cute addition too!
ReplyDeleteDear Susan,
ReplyDeletelove the minis, they look both lovely. I like the red and white one a lot too. You will find the perfect match up for yourself.
Greetings,
Sylvia
You have projects that are so beautiful with their colours ! I love to read your blog !
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful minis.....hope the garden grows well.
ReplyDeleteSusan, both look beautiful....wouldn't change anything
ReplyDeleteThe red hexies look great - the different scale and design of the print creates the interest. And the orange peel mini is perfect for your Springtime.
