A new beginning

I have made a start on my new project. This is the centre, although I haven't quite made up my mind about the hexi in the middle. I have drawn it out to scale on a huge piece of paper that DH brought home, and I think it's going to be an interesting experiment!

And this is where the blackberry picking is happening. It's a bumper crop! My fingers look rather ordinary, all purple and scratched, but it hasn't stopped me sewing.

  6. Beautiful new start, I'd probably make your hexie a bit bigger as it looks a bit small compared to the other pieces?? I can't wait to see what this one turns into :) Barb.

Maybe you need some Kevlar gloves to pick those blackberries?

  15. Fussy cutting in that blue fabric is really pretty.. Will be fun to watch this evolve! Blackberries this time of year at our place are frozen:-) We do have a large wild blackberry patch up in our woods - the bears usually bring their little buckets first though...we just enjoy seeing them cross our land so much and let them have first picking.

  21. I have blackberry envy. I was bramble picking on my last trip back to the UK, just picking them out the hedgerows and eating them on our walks.

  22. How exciting - your own design! I'm with Barb and would consider making the hexie a bit bigger but you would have better idea of the overall look. They look like some interesting rock formations in the background of the berry pic.
