Not the greatest light for a photo today, and no, the feet aren't part of the quilt! But I am so happy to get to this stage. I took some creative licence with the border triangles, some are appliqued and some are prints, it became a case of better finished than perfect. I even used my sewing machine to join the triangles and attach the borders, which is quite unusual for me.
Perhaps by the time I start quilting I will love it again.

It really is lovely. I'm sure you will enjoy getting back into some hand quilting.
ReplyDeleteIt's really lovely - I'm sure once you start the quilting process the quilt will come to life and you'll love it again. Always enjoy seeing what you are up to!
ReplyDeleteSusan you've done such a stunning job, well done! I know this has been somewhat of a 'challenge' for you so you've done well to end up with this. Woo Hoo!
ReplyDeleteRegardless of the modifications it's still a beautiful quilt Susan and I'm certain that you will enjoy quilting it. Such a nice idea to make a smaller version of it, and such a HUGE undertaking!
ReplyDeleteGreat finish. Love the simplicity of your border blocks.
ReplyDeleteI think it's just stunning! Well done for finishing it off :) Barb.
ReplyDeleteWow Susan it looks gorgeous and even though you didn't go the full size it still looks quite big!
ReplyDeleteThe borders look really great. Well done!!
Will you hand quilt?
No lack of enthusiasm evident here, Susan - it's absolutely gorgeous. Well done for persevering.
ReplyDeleteIt looks magnificent
ReplyDeleteWell done, you got it this far, stick it in the cupboard for awhile and when the love comes back, then start quilting it! Life is too short to work on quilts you have fallen out of love with. I love it, but I am not going to offer to quilt it!
ReplyDeleteSusan it looks just lovely! Can I ask why you're not so keen on it anymore?
ReplyDeleteSo glad you finished it - and I echo the others - it is gorgeous!! When it reaches the top of the quilting queue it will be wonderful quilted and we'll all love seeing it again:)
ReplyDeletelove it Susan, well done my friend xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous as always......love the feet
ReplyDeleteSusan it is just beautiful and what an amazing job you have done. So much work, but just stunning
DeleteIts so beautiful Susan. I am doffing my cap to you for even starting it let alone the gorgeous end result. You have done a fabulous job.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful finish. Your changes just make this DJ uniquely yours.
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing! Maybe don't even begin quilting until you discover you love it again for it will make the quilting more enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteA lovely finish Susan !
ReplyDeleteFantastic..... Wow .....
ReplyDeleteIt looks gorgeous - good on you soldiering on to get it done. Maybe absence will make the heart grow stronger and you'll feel the love after a break from it!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm sure you will love it again some day. How could you not? It's gorgeous. I actually like the smaller size because of the balance. Makes me wonder if some day I could perhaps make a smaller one. More doable maybe.:)
ReplyDeleteYou rose to the challenge beautifully! The complexity of the blocks in this quilt is over the top & your finish is impressive. Sometimes we have a quilt that just seems to set our heads off in a different direction. I have one partially done in the closet - knowing there is reverse sewing involved and problems with it has me at odds with it - it takes time to get friendly with each other sometimes.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous Susan...but sometimes we need to take a break and then we appreciate it again when we pick it up. I'm sure slow and steady will win in the end. xox
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I love all the reds.
ReplyDeleteWill you hand quilt yours? I am still procrastinating. Yes, still only three blocks quilted, although I have almost finished my latest practice cushion.
Your Dear Janequilt looks lovely !
ReplyDeleteI know that this quilt is not easy te make. i've had my difficulties too with it.
I learned from Judith (blog: Juudsquilts.blogspot.nl) how to make the DJ blocks with vlieseline H 250, that you can iron on the backside of the pieces. Do you know it and the way how to use it with the Dear Jane ?
Have a good week, greetings from the Netherlands, Patricia
Your quilt looks lovely. Well done
ReplyDeleteI hope you find some affection for this quilt again. So many stitches invested in those beautiful little blocks.
ReplyDeleteYou WILL love it again...mine is still in the cupboard...well done...she is a big accomplishment in quilting!
ReplyDeleteohh tis gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely! When I had finished making and quilting my Dear Jane I really did not love it anymore, but gradually that changed, so I am sure you will love yours again.
ReplyDeleteYour DJ is a beauty. I like that you made changes to the original design. Makes it more your own.
ReplyDeleteDear Susan,
ReplyDeletegreat progress on your DJ quilt top, it is gorgeous.
Greetings,
Sylvia
