Jack Frost has been overnight. It was a beautiful, freezing frosty morning. In between soccer games and sleepovers I've been doing some stitching. Another block finished for In Full Bloom.
And Tis the Season - Christmas Reindeer
I bought a fabric pack for Anni's zippered bag at the craft show and decided to make a start on it last night. There is only one downside to fabric packs - if you make a mistake and draw your appliqué design on back to front, AND cut it out wrong, well, there isn't any spare fabric left. So my ground is slightly spotty instead of sprinkled with daisies. Not really a drama, just annoyed at myself. I used to really love buttonhole appliqué, but I'm not so sure any more. Now that I can do needle turn I think it's my preferred method.
It kept me occupied whilst I waited for the eleven year olds to go to sleep. Why do we have sleepovers????
Some family time chopping firewood today. Hope you're keeping warm and enjoying the weekend.

ReplyDeleteOhhh full bloom looks lovely!! Your zippy purse still looks cute regardless of your hiccup...very productive weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteI loved that little bag from Anni's too and I agree with you, I much prefer needleturn applique now.
ReplyDeleteYour stitcheries are gorgeous.
Susan love your blocks, well done, yep i think we have all done that back to front thing.xx
ReplyDeleteIt certainly has been good weather for staying inside and stitching. All your work looks wonderful. It would have also been good out collecting wood, in the bracing cold air.
ReplyDeleteYour stitching looks great - I agree about the buttonhole applique. And sleepovers - yes why do we do that to ourselves??? xxx
ReplyDeleteLovely little stitcheries framed by gorgeous fabrics. Love that purple. Well done on getting out of trouble with the appliqué.
ReplyDeleteThe full bloom stitchery is gorgeous! Until pointed out I didn't realise it was the wrong fabric. Sleep overs-enjoy as they grow out of these!!!

Hi Susan...love your stitcheries and had a chuckle about why you stitch when there is a sleepover happening! I bought some linen intending to make that little purse...I have never tried needleturn...maybe it is easier that buttonhole stitch...will have to look into that.
ReplyDeleteI noticed your In My Garden quilt in your sidebar...absolutely stunning!
We are just back from the Food Show in Sydney this weekend...it feels like we have had one big holiday!
Looks very cute Susan...x
ReplyDeleteI remember the days of sleep overs....
ReplyDeleteOh love your bom is looking good.. Also Annis new zippered ouch looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteLove the rooster on the roof in your stitchery and cute reindeer :)
ReplyDeleteI've done that before with kits, then you have to dig through your stash to find something suitable.
