I linked up for FNWF and remembered five minutes later that I was going out. I do sew most nights so I'll show you what I've been working on this week. It's Dear Jane. These are the blocks I've done so far.....
What do you think? I'm enjoying sewing them, but I don't like thinking about adding the small sashing strips......or quilting it at the end. Do all the shades of red look ok, or does it look like I can't make up my mind?
While I think about it I'll keep sewing them as my portable project, and start sewing these Irish Circles blocks together at home.

Some happy stitching news. Our local sewing shop closed in June but reopened yesterday with new owners. It has a lot of the old stock though, so it remains to be seen what fabrics and products they get in. At least I can get the basics, like the dmc and template plastic I needed today.
After a late night last night and work this morning, it's come down to a choice between sewing and a nap this afternoon.....or maybe both.

ReplyDeleteThey look great - and very "you" with those fabrics/colours. I think all the different reds will blend in such a large quilt - the more the merrier!
ReplyDeleteHi Susan i love your blocks and i love the colour as well,so good to hear that your patchwork store has opened again, hope you have a lovely evening my friend.xx
ReplyDeletelove your blocks... personally I don't mind a mix of different reds and that sashing you don't like thinking about will make the differences less obvious? the blocks look fantastic and it is great to have a quilt shop open again near you... even if you don't want to buy the fabrics they stock it's good therapy to go and look and stroke it!

I love all the different reds, I think it will make the quilt so much more interesting. Your blocks seem to be coming together so quickly. I saw this site which gives some good tips on the sashings: http://auntreensplace.blogspot.nl/2010/09/sashing-instructions-for-dear-jane.html
ReplyDeleteI think the reds are going to look amazing, you sure are zooming along

ReplyDeleteI do love your red DJ blocks, you've got a really good mix of prints and shades, etc. Great to hear about a patchwork shop reopening, hopefully once they get on their feet the new fabrics, etc, will come in.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! You are on a ROLL! Keep going - it's going to be great with the mix of prints and shades.
ReplyDeleteThe variety of reds looks good. I think if you used the same tone all the way through it would be boring and your eye wouldnt stop on the individual blocks. Glad the shop re opened, lets hope the locals support them enough to increase the stock...or they are www savy enough to expand their clientele.
ReplyDeleteI love all the diff reds in the blocks. Happy for you in the your LQS re-opened. It's so important.
